This set of paintings attempts to use animals and insects as a vehicle for certain human behaviours and ideas in order to suggest that no matter what we as humans achieve or think, we can never truly escape from the fact that we are, in our purest form, animals who have evolved over the centuries through no choice of our own. Also, I'm attempting to find similarities between human and non-human creatures as opposed to differences. The idea behind the paintings was inspired by something John Gray said in his book 'Straw Dogs'. He said that Christianity's greatest mistake was to place humans above all other creatures. Can any human being ever justify feeling superior to every other creature on this earth?
